About Us

Celebrating a Century: From Canvas Beginnings to Event Icons

Mahaffey Event & Tent Rentals, a privately owned company, recently celebrated over 100 successful years serving local and Mid-South area clients. Our history is interesting, and we are extremely proud of it! Way back in 1924, brothers Owen, Gene, and Earl Mahaffey started out making canvas tarpaulins, awnings, and cotton pick sacks.
When a request came in 1929 to make a tent, they obliged, only to have their client fail to pick it up. It remained unused until they received a call from the Tri-State Fair (now known as the Mid-South Fair). That call resulted in their first tent rental and the next phase of the business was formed.

For the most part, we will clean everything upon return to the warehouse. Specific instructions for glassware, dinnerware and flatware, linens, outdoor grills, deep fryers, and ovens are provided. Additional fees will be added if any of the above situations occur.

Please check with your event consultant regarding current rental minimums as they fluctuate by season. Get with your sales representative regarding out-of-town minimums/fees. Exceptions can be made depending on delivery availability – check with your sales representative.

Yes, either you or someone designated by you who knows where all the items are should be on-site during the pick-up. The person’s name and number need to be included on the contract. *If we must return for an additional pickup, you will be charged an additional pickup fee.

Yes, setup is included in the rental fee for some items like tents and furniture and not for others. If you have any questions regarding what includes setup, please check with your sales representative.

Yes, we offer will calls. You will need to provide a vehicle large enough to pick the items up in. Furniture needs to be in an enclosed box truck tied down with straps. *Customers may need to provide tarp/straps depending on the items/inclement weather.
